Enterprise Systems Architecture (ESA)

Why Study ESA?
Today’s organisations need to act quickly in response to change
and to enable a seamless flow of information both within
their organisation and with organisational networks. A Master
in Enterprise Systems Architecture will equip you to pursue a
career in blue-chip, development and system integration organisations.

Who is the Course Aimed at?
The course is aimed at graduates in subjects that have either
included some ICT component or where relevant ICT experience
has been developed thereafter. The programme is therefore open
both to those who have recently completed an undergraduate
degree and to professionals with relevant experience.

Career Prospects
This course will enable you to pursue careers such as:
• IT consultants
• Systems programmers
• Knowledge engineers
• Web architects
• Analysts and systems integration specialists

Course Objectives
The boundaries of organisation are increasingly blurred in the
modern business environment. Business operation is 24 hours-a-
day, 7 days a week and the flow of data and information both
within and across organisational boundaries needs to be seamless
and the outcomes available to partners and customers in real time.
Consequently, software systems that were once seen in isolation
(e.g. on a departmental basis) are now expected to operate as part
of a seamless whole – at an enterprise level.

In this context, the aim of this programme is to develop practical
skills and critical awareness in relation to enterprise and distributed
systems development (from a service-oriented perspective). At the
end of the course you should be able to:

  • model key aspects of distributed and enterprise systems
in an integrated and logical manner
  • demonstrate a critical and practical understanding of the
issues relevant to distributed systems and their use in the enterprise context
  • demonstrate knowledge of appropriate means for integrating distributed and heterogeneous software systems in an
    enterprise context
  • demonstrate a critical and practical understanding of the
professional skills necessary for the effective development
  • reflect, critically and in-depth, on relevant aspects of the
state-of-the art of both the practice and theory of
    distributed and enterprise systems development
